Life @ ADP Podcast - Episode 1

Narrator: [00:00:06] At ADP, we're always designing for people. Starting with our own. Life at ADP podcast will give you a look into our associates stories, our culture, and our company.

Kate: [00:00:26] Hi everybody, I'm Kate, Director of Global Employer, Brand and Marketing here at ADP.

Ingrid: [00:00:31] And I'm Ingrid, Multimedia Creator for the Global Employer, Brand and Marketing team, and we're here to talk about Life at ADP.

Kate: [00:00:39] Yes! So, Ingrid, it's great hosting this podcast with you. I know we have a ton of fun together inside the working hours, and I think that this will be a really cool way to showcase the amazing work that we're doing here.

Ingrid: [00:00:54] Yeah, that's so awesome, Kate. And for those who might not know about ADP, we are a global leader in HCM technology. So, what does that mean? Well, we offer cutting edge technology informed by our vast workforce data to help companies navigate the evolving world of work, from payroll tax and compliance to talent management, benefits and more. We have approximately 58,000 associates across the world. We serve 920,000 clients in 140 countries. We are one of the largest providers of HCM services in North America, Europe, Latin America, and Pacific Rim.

Kate: [00:01:39] That's super impressive, right? And then on top of that, we've won awards like World's Most Admired Companies by Fortune, 15 consecutive years. Top 50 Companies for Diversity by Diversity Inc, a Top-Rated Workplaces: Best for Veterans - Indeed 100, right? 100% Corporate Equality Index, 12 years in a row by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, we've been named a Top Company for Women Technologists by Anita Borg Institute. It just goes on and on, and those are just some of our diversity awards, right, and culture-based awards. In addition to that, we have a multitude of product awards. So, for instance, the Top 100 Best Software Products, three of our products were named for that. So, ADP Workforce Now®, RUN Powered by ADP®, and then ADP TotalSource®, so a complete powerhouse, so much going on. Super impressive. And then in addition to that, let's talk about our culture, right? So, what I've learned and seen for myself over the last two years is that we can really be our authentic selves and working in Global Employer Brand and Marketing. I so appreciate that. I know that at least for myself, when I can be who I am, my mind is just freer to think, act, do, and really be empowered to create.

Ingrid: [00:03:19] Yeah, exactly. And as a Multimedia Creator, that's super important for me, you know, in my everyday life because it also translates into what all the people actually see, something tangible. I mean, I feel so lucky to have found my role here, but I don't think I have shared with you my career journey, did I Kate?

Kate: [00:03:40] You know what, Ingrid? I don't think you have.

Ingrid: [00:03:43] Ok, so well, let me share it. So, I started here as a video intern, and since day one, I knew that people here were super friendly and I was actually, you know, impressed by that. And in addition to the people being friendly and, you know, always ready to help you. One of the things that, you know, stuck with me was the fact that even though I was an intern since day one, I was already working on important projects, real projects and I wasn't doing any type of things like running errands or getting coffee. You know, things that as interns, sometimes we have the mentality that those are the type of things that we're going to, we're going to be doing in an internship. So, at ADP, it was completely different and I was like, Wow, this is amazing! You know, not only I'm surrounded by nice people, but I also love the work that I'm doing here and all the things that I get to do. So, I remember thinking, wow, it almost feels like I hit the lottery. And fast forward, my leaders were like, well, you know, we know you're about to graduate, and we will love for you to join the team as a full time. And I remember thinking, wow, they love me? I'm the one that I'm in love with the company and with the team. So, yeah, fast forward, I said yes, of course. And here we are.

Kate: [00:05:12] I love that and I'm going to, I'm going to share something with you, Ingrid. And I don't know that I've actually told you this. So, you talked about being surrounded by just genuinely nice people and what it was like to make connections within the organization. And so, I can't help but go back to September 2019, my very first week at ADP. You and I were linked up to work on a video project, right? And we're in the Roseland Campus at the time because you're currently in Pasadena, California, at our Innovation Center there. And you were so helpful on my onboarding to the organization without even meaning to be, I don't think, right, like you weren't assigned to me as my onboarding buddy. You just assumed that role yourself. And so, you would come up to my desk and you would say, Kate, do you know where the cafeteria is? Can I show you here? Do you know where the printer is? You introduced me to people. And then that Friday of that week, we were doing more filming in our Chelsea Innovation Center in New York City, and we bonded even more. And just having someone like that on our team, I was so excited even more that I already had been. And then that's when I found out you were moving to Pasadena, right? And I'm like, oh, my first work friend is leaving, but it really talks to the culture we have here at ADP.

Kate: [00:06:54] And I would say you and I have gotten even closer over those two years, which is amazing, hence why we're doing our podcast together. Thank you for that, I just wanted to thank you. You know, speaking of journeys, you know, my journey happened here through the power of connection. So, I met our Vice President, Liz Gelb-O'Connor, at a conference in 2018. We were down in Austin, Texas, and I was really impressed by ADP strength and history in the Human Capital Management market, right, with 70 years plus being in the industry. The number 1 HCM app, over 38 million workers paid worldwide and to scale at that level, the technology behind the scenes has to be incredible. So, I'm happy to be here. I'm thrilled to be doing this with you. And this might be kind of a good segue way to talk about what can our listeners expect from our podcast, right? So, this is our pilot episode, a nice feel for who we are as individuals and as teammates. And hopefully you are intrigued enough to come back when we have guest stars and ADP associates joining us. But Ingrid, why don't you set the stage a little bit more?

Ingrid: [00:08:25] So life at ADP will give our audience a closer look into our culture, our company and, of course, our associate's stories.

Kate: [00:08:34] That's really exciting, and we will actually be hosting our first guest right before Grace Hopper. She will be attending Grace Hopper virtually. And for those of you who may not be familiar with Grace Hopper celebration, it's an event that brings the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront, right? So very high energy. Last year, with the pandemic, it was remote and virtual. This year they're following the same format, and we're just really excited to be sponsoring Grace Hopper again and having our next guest star be an attendee.

Ingrid: [00:09:14] Yes, I can't wait to learn more about her journey to ADP and what the conference means to her. For me, I am super proud to be part of an organization that values diversity and really shows up to this type of conferences and events, you know, to bring new fresh talent to ADP.

Kate: [00:09:34] Yes, exactly. And sometimes it's even hard to keep up with the work that happens between the DEI team with the virtual events and trainings, community collaborations. And then obviously right, our Business Resource Groups, all nine of them at ADP. It's really great work.

Ingrid: [00:09:57] Yeah, it is. I'm actually involved in five of our BRGs, and I actually missed going to this, you know, physical events. But I hope and I know that soon we're going to get there.

Kate: [00:10:12] I completely agree. And those in-person events are really like the strength of the ADP culture. I know when I joined in, again like September 2019, how I mentioned earlier, I was fortunate enough to experience those super powerful Veteran event that we had, which was based out of our headquarters in Roseland, New Jersey. And when I tell you the tribute to our service, men and women and people within the organization was so touching that there was not a dry eye in the house. It it really was phenomenal. And one of those moments that I will truly take with me for the rest of my career. So, I'm with you, Ingrid. I'm looking forward to more in-person events celebrating who we are as individuals at ADP and then just celebrating who we are as a collective group. Really excited for our guest speaker, you know, to join us for our next podcast, and she has done some amazing work within the DEI space. So really excited for, you know, us to sit down and talk with her and also for our listeners to get to know her.

Ingrid: [00:11:33] Yeah, yeah, that's so awesome. I can't, I can't wait. That's super cool. Well, to close out, do you want to share one reason why are you proud to be part of Life at ADP?

Kate: [00:11:45] Yes, great idea. But I will only share if you do too, so are you in?

Ingrid: [00:11:51] Okay, Yeah, sounds fair.

Kate: [00:11:52] Okay, so I'm proud because during the pandemic, ADP put their associates first. No questions asked, right? Quickly and nimbly, the organization was able to have about 98 percent of all associates equipped and ready to go work effectively from their homes. You know, our safety came first, and that's globally. And I'm really just so appreciative of that, so that's my life at ADP proud moment for the day. What about you?

Ingrid: [00:12:29] What about me? I, my proud moment, it would be having the opportunity to share my experience with the rest of the people outside of ADP and having the opportunity to work on a cool project like this, like the podcast, Life at ADP. So, yeah, this is definitely my my proud moment of the day.

Kate: [00:12:52] I love that, and I endorse that, Ingrid. All right. Well, this has been fun. Thank you for listening to our intro episode of Life at ADP. Stay tuned for our next episode. This is Kate

Ingrid: [00:13:07] and this is Ingrid,
